I started hunting turkeys 40 years ago with a 12-gauge Remington 870. My only aiming option? The bead on the barrel. Don’t get me wrong—I shot plenty of birds that way. But after a couple of decades, I decided to try adjustable open sights.

One day, I watched a video of soldiers in combat situations and noticed something—they all used holographic sights. These allow you to keep both eyes open and acquire targets faster and more accurately. That was my lightbulb moment!
